Symentic Technologies is a UK software company. We build systems for clients, and we operate two SaaS platforms of our own.
Why we run our own products
Plenty of agencies can build you something. Fewer have had to keep it running at 8am on a Saturday when a hotel cannot check anybody in.
Building Stayvieo and FoodCiti forced us to care about the parts that are invisible in a pitch: what happens when a partner API returns nonsense, how you deploy without taking the system down, what a receptionist does when the internet drops. That experience is the main thing we bring to client work.
It also means we are a product company that does consultancy, rather than a consultancy that has never shipped a product. The difference shows up in the questions we ask at the start.

The handover matters
Code, infrastructure and documentation are yours. If you take the project elsewhere, we want the next team to have an easy first week.
Say the hard thing early
If an approach is not working, or a request would cost more than it is worth, we say so at the time rather than quietly absorbing it.
Operators, not just builders
We run our own platforms in production. That is a different discipline from shipping and walking away, and it shows up in what we build for others.
